Jackson is lucky to be piloting the SEL (Social Emotional Learning) program this year and the children seem to really love it. One aspect of SEL is the Community Gathering, or morning meeting. There are three main components to the Community Gathering: greeting, sharing and activity. Here's a picture of the students during our sharing time today. They were partnered with their "elbow buddy" to discuss what they have most enjoyed about our first IB unit. We've talked a lot about making eye contact with your partner, what it means to be a good listener and how to effectively communicate your ideas.
Next week, I'll be adding the Second STEP program to our Community Gatherings. Here's a letter that explains the program. I'm excited to see the impact the lessons will have on the children!
